Presidency debunks claims of colluding with France to destabilize Niger

The Presidency has debunked claims by the military leader of Niger Republic, Abdourahamane Tchiani, that Nigeria is colluding with France to destabilise his country.

Recall that Tchiani had, on Wednesday, alleged that France is negotiating with terrorists in Nigeria to destabilise the West African nation.

In the video, Tchiani spoke in Hausa, making claims that France made a “substantial payment to President Bola Tinubu” to establish a military base in Nigeria.

In a reaction, the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, said Tchiani’s claims are baseless and despicable.

The presidential aide added that the allegations are inciting and meant to instigate northern Nigeria against Tinubu.

The presidential aide noted Nigeria’s longstanding leadership role in West Africa and its commitment to fostering bilateral relations with neighbouring countries.

He said contrary to claims by the Nigerien leader, Nigeria has never had to give its own land as a military base to any country.
